Week 108
Emotional State: Juggling all the things
Life & Nanowrimo
I’m keeping this short because life is crazy hectic and I’m about to lose my internet, so I can pack and return the router.
Nanowrimo is happening and I’m participating. The plan is to get a full novel written, or at least hit the 50k word goal, but I’ve got way too much going on right now and I may get behind.
But that’s alright. I never pressure myself to hit the goal because that takes the fun out of the challenge. It’s a challenge, not a requirement. You don’t lose at life if you lose at Nano. You do lose the cool discounts, but eh… that’s okay.
For Nano, the plan is to write book 2 – Holly and Havoc – of my cozy paranormal mystery series. I’ve done something I rarely do. I’ve outlined it. Thanks to a very generous amazing author who shared her cozy outline with me – with a book outlined in it, I’m in a much better place for this mystery.
No more going back to add red herrings, subtle clues or introduce suspects. Nope. Now I have a plan and an idea how to bridge each scene. But, I still have loads of wiggle room to pants it. In fact, I’ve already changed it with the one chapter I’ve written so far.
Once a pantser, always a pantser. (Sort of).
Other than that, I’ve created my publishing plan for next year. The current plan is to publish 4 books, 2 in the cozy series and 2 in the urban fantasy series. This gives me room to syncopate my writing and editing so that I’m not editing for 6 months straight like I did this year.
On the life front, my move is imminent. As in, they come to pack us tomorrow and we move out on Friday. So, all the little things I said I’d do are either going to get done or not. And it’s all okay. That’s all I got this week. My mound of little things is calling me.
Hopefully, it doesn’t bury me.
