The Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs

magical herbs world-building
by Scott Cunningham

This is another great book that has come in handy as I do more research and make my WIP novel, Two-Souled Justice, just a bit more believable. Magic does exist, after all, in my book world.

The entries in the book are not just the herbs and their properties. They also include the scientific name, folk names, and the magical properties, such as the gender, the planet, element, powers and magical uses. Are they magical? I have no idea, but my MC’s Aunt Tristana, who is a magic wielder, sure does think so.

If you need an herb to put people to sleep, there’s an entry for that. Or what about an herb to paralyze someone, there’s an entry for that as well. Basically, for any good potion or story where you need to create potions, this book is for you.

Are there any other great magic books out there you use for research and to build your worlds? Let me know in the comments.
