Dark Inertia

The glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel flickered and went out, plunging me back into the darkness once more. I stand still, trying to get my bearings in the dark. There is no light at all; it is pitch black where I stand. How do I maneuver out of this situation? Where is my light? What do I do know? How do I move forward, when I can’t see my hand in front of my face? I take a tentative step forward, moving slowly, unsure of what I’m stepping on and where I’m going. After a few steps, I stop. Is this the right direction? Should I go another way? I stand in the dark and let inertia hold me in place. I could stand here forever, right?
